We decided to investigate these differences for ourselves by comparing listings in varying Ontario towns and cities. Using the benchmark of $1 million, it’s clear some places offer a little more bang for your buck than others. Well, as long as you’re willing to relocate to those locations, that is. From small homes in the suburbs to mansions on the lake, $1 million can be spent in all kinds of ways.

TORONTO

First up we’ve got Toronto and, no surprise, $1 million doesn’t exactly buy you the height of luxury. For starters, it seems that these days you’ve really got to head out to the suburbs to even find a listing at this specific price point. (To note: you can find some downtown listings below and many above this price point, but we are talking specifically one million dollars here). The house we’re showcasing today is located in East York and comes equipped with 3+1 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It’s certainly a solid property, but definitely not what the Barenaked Ladies were dreaming of when they sang about having $1 million.
