Looking for a unique getaway spot this winter? This might be the most unconventional destination you could ask for. Located less than 2.5 hours from Toronto near Indian Point Provincial Park, you’ll find a real hobbit-hole made of the earth, built into a hill on a rural farm. Doesn’t get more off-grid than that!

You’ll feel like a little woodland creature in this adorable accommodation, which stays toasty warm in the winter. It’s definitely a rustic experience, kind of like camping but with some additional amenities.

The hobbit house provides minimal electricity, just enough for lighting and phone charging. You’ll have to come prepared with your own propane and bedding, but there are cooking supplies and a queen-sized bed with a mattress cover, and a camping cot that sleeps one.

In the summer, you can take a dip in the spring-fed swimming hole just steps away from your door. Plus, you can breathe easy knowing that the hobbit house is ozonated after each stay to kill germs and odors.
