The weather might be off to a rainy start this week, but the end of the week should see some warmer temps and sunnier skies (fingers crossed), which means it’s a great time to make some plans! Whether you’re looking to catch a couple of concerts or a baseball game, or check out Science World After Dark, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (May 27-31).
OUROFEST is a series of dance battles and free public performances slated for May 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th, kicking off at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts with DJs ICE-B and Calgary’s Friar Funk. On May 26th, Robson Square will host public performances by Surrey’s youth dance artist Teg, Montreal’s M Queen, and a premiere by OURO Collective.
Finally, on May 27th and 28th, you can try out street dancing yourself by registering for workshops on styles like waacking and hip hop.

It’s officially baseball season! This week, the Vancouver Canadians are up against the Tri-City Dust Devils.

Modern jazz pioneer Kamasi Washington has worked with everyone from Thundercat to Kendrick Lamar, and he’s currently on a ‘genre-bending’ tour which stops in Vancouver this week!

Science World’s popular “After Dark” series is officially back, which means adults get free reigns over all the exhibits, with optional flowing drinks available. So if getting tipsy at Science World on a Thursday sounds like a good time (which we definitely think it is), you won’t want to miss this.

From 3 to 10 pm on Friday, May 31st, the city’s Black Music Month Festival is back to kick things off with a full day of live music celebrating the very best of the black community in Vancouver. Over the course of the weekend, there will be over 70 local and international BIPOC artists and vendors, including Ursula Rucker, Desirée Dawson, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Makadi, Henri Brown, and Tonye Aganaba, to name just a few.

The Vancouver International Children’s Festival returns to Granville Island to treat children and families to a range of interactive programs, including a ‘super-charged urban circus’ show, a Métis dance performance, a puppet show, and much more.

On the last day of the month, DJ Habibeats is coming to Harbour Theatre with Spinnaz and Cole Trane for an exciting night of upbeat music and dancing.

The Richmond Night Market is North America’s largest outdoor market, and it’s officially back at the start of the month! So get ready to peruse hundreds of delicious food vendors with cuisine from around the globe.

The beloved Shipyards Night Market is on every Friday from May 10th to September 13th, so get ready to enjoy the iconic beer garden and outdoor market, and peruse many mouthwatering food trucks.
