Another week of summer, another chance to get outdoors for some of the season’s most anticipated events and attractions. This week includes Vancouver’s Honda Celebration of Light, a new art exhibition, free movie nights, and much more. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (July 22-26).
Drawing thousands of local and international visitors every year, the Celebration of Light is a huge deal for lovers of fireworks, as it’s not often that Vancouver’s skies light up with dazzling displays.
This week, it’s Team Pyro Tact from Malaysia that will light up the skies.

Evo Car Share and Fresh Air Cinema are back with their free Summer Cinema series, which screens a different movie every Tuesday this summer on a 40-foot screen under the stars.
Movies are screened on the Grand Lawn at Ceperley Meadow with space for thousands of visitors! So grab your picnic blankets and lawn chairs, and get ready to rally your pals.

CICA Vancouver is hosting an opening night for the new James Jean exhibition, entitled ‘Meadowlark’ on Thursday, July 25th from 5 pm to 8 pm. As the renowned artist’s first solo exhibition in Canada, art lovers won’t want to miss it!

It’s officially Bard on the Beach season, and there are two Shakespearean shows you can check out at Vanier Park this week: Twelfth Night and Hamlet. And for those who want to upgrade their experience, check out Wine Wednesday, which provides guests with exclusive pre-show wine tastings!

Down With Webster will take the stage at the Commodore this Thursday, July 25th, so don your cowboy boots and get ready to shuffle!

Or maybe you prefer to sprawl out on Cates Deck in North Van? Every Thursday until August 29th, there will be weekly classic film screenings in front of Polygon Gallery, accompanied by music and live entertainment leading up to the start time.

Every year, Vancouver hosts a variety of ticketed, free, and low-cost events to celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community and the incredible art and talent to come out of it – as well as those working towards creating greater inclusivity in our city.
This year’s Pride festivities will kick off on July 26th with an Opening Ceremony at Davie Street Lounge.

Stanley Park’s outdoor theatre experience, Theatre Under the Stars, has officially set the stage for summer 2024 – and two iconic shows are on the roster: CATS and School of Rock.

Another outdoor movie pick! With a giant projector screen and plenty of space to lay out your picnic blankets and chairs, šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ square transforms into the ultimate open-air theatre every Thursday until August 15th.
Note that movies begin at sundown, with performances and activities starting at 5 pm every Thursday from July 4th to August 15th.

The beloved Shipyards Night Market is on every Friday until September 13th, so get ready to enjoy the iconic beer garden and outdoor market, and peruse many mouthwatering food trucks.
