Well, Vancouver, we’re in for quite a chilly (and snowy) weekend. So while we’re excited about the month ahead, we’re tempted to hide out somewhere cozy until the blast of winter weather blows over. Luckily, we’ve got a mix of art exhibits, jazz nights, and live events to toss your way that will be more exciting than spending the entire weekend on your couch. We’ll get right to it: Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this weekend (February 24-26).

This weekend, the Polygon Gallery is hosting a curated exhibit by Elliott Ramsey celebrating the Black community and identities in Canada. The As We Rise exhibit features more than 100 photographs from the Wedge Collection – the largest privately owned collection championing Black artists in the country.

From African diasporic culture to the civil rights movement, the new exhibit (organized by Aperture) will feature powerful photography by a number of talented artists.

Eat your way through Chinatown

Vancouver’s Chinatown has some of the best eats in town and what’s even better is that most of them are very affordable. And while everything is running on a mostly to-go format, it’s a great way to try multiple places on one date. We recommend stopping by Kam Wai Dim Sum and New Town Bakery to start.

Check out a jazz night

No matter your beverage of choice, Vancouver has some stellar jazz nights to take advantage of on a weekly basis. So as long as you’re prepared to shell out the occasional cover fee here and there, consider this list a solid go-to for an after-work treat.
