Happy week before the long weekend, Edmonton! While we are looking forward to Victoria Day, there are still lots of things to check out before then. Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this week.

THE CANADA-WIDE SCIENCE FAIR (CWSF) 

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is the country’s largest annual youth science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) event, bringing together top young scientists and their projects! There will be select days for the public to check it out- for Free!

28TH ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT

This weekday concert is by the Suzuki Charter School Kindergarten to Grade 9 students, who will be performing choral and orchestral suites celebrating Suzuki repertoire and jazz and baroque music in three concert mini series.

Mamma Mio!

How about a dinner and a show before the long weekend? For this one, expect all the best of the ABBA music and movies, all together in one classic Jubilations Dinner Theatre parody romp.

WHC SUMMER SERIES

While it’s not technically summer yet, the Wild Heart Collective’s 124 Grand Market is back. The food and drink (plus a little shopping and entertainment) event will be running Thursday, Saturdays, and Sundays at locations around the city starting this month!

U OF A BOTANIC GARDEN

Get into nature at the Botanic Garden this week. It’s spring, flowers are blooming, and the Botanic Garden just opened for the reason. You’ve got acres upon acres of beautiful gardens to explore!

THE ART OF THE BRICK

The world’s largest and most popular display of Lego art is here! If you’re a Lego fan, be sure to make time to head to Telus World of Science to discover over a million Lego bricks transformed into over 100 sculptures by contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya.

BRICK AND BAR

Perhaps you want to check out The Art of the Brick, but in adult only form? Brick and Bar is the answer! Check out the exhibit, build the Lego, and have a drink or two. This is an 18+ event.

MayDaze Carnival

Looking for an early start to a long weekend destination that will be fun for the entire family? Check out MayDaze Carnival this Friday. Not only will there be a carnival, but there will be a popup market as well!

PRISON DANCER

Prison Dancer is a musical by Filipino-Canadian creators Romeo Candido and Carmen De Jesus. It is based on a viral video from 2007, showing 1,500 inmates in a Philippines prison dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

LASER TAYLOR SWIFT

Ok so she may not be touring in Canada (yet), but you can catch an awesome Laser Taylor Swift show this Friday! Laser Taylor Swift takes her biggest hits and brings them to life in dazzling laser light. What better way to kick off a long weekend?!
