It’s here! The calendar has officially caught up with HomeSense and another fall is on the books but how will you celebrate? If you’re not quite sure what’s happening to kick it all off, here are 10 of the best things to do this week in Calgary.
An annual competition that features pilots from all over Canada, the US and Europe, this magical Heritage Inn Balloon Festival is by far one of the most beautiful in the province and you won’t want to miss a beat. Check it out this Wednesday!

Featuring thrills, lights and heartwarming characters, KOOZA is a nod to Cirque Du Soliel’s origins and explores everything from fear and identity to recognition and power. From now until October 8th check it out at the Stampede grounds and prepare to be amazed!

Good gourd! Featuring over 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins, sweet treats and awe-inspiring carving demonstrations, Pumpkins After Dark will light and leave you in awe. For tickets head to the link above and enjoy.

Known for songs like Run For the Hills and Fear The Dark, iconic heavy metal band Iron Maiden will take Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome this Thursday. For tickets, check out the link above.

What’s more quintessentially fall than a pumpkin patch?! This week, toss on your autumn best, grab a hot chocolate, pick the perfect gourd and go home and make a pie or something. Quick! You don’t have much time left! YYC Pizza Fest is here and it’s shining a spotlight on some of the city’s best thin-crust, deep-dish, topping-heavy restaurants, and their most inventive slices! Check it out while you can.

Featuring an artist residency and exhibit, workshops, and an interactive community art project, Honouring the Children is meant to recognize the lost children and survivors of residential schools and will be open to the public for an entire month. If you’d like to attend the exhibit you can do so between 11 am and 6 pm, Thursdays through to Saturday at the address below.

Fall, fun and friends! This Friday, check out the Calgary Farmyard for Harvest Lights, a vibrant after-dark event, that will give you more time to snuggle with their animals, get lost in their giant corn maze, challenge each other to a game of mini-golf, or make a fool of yourself in their giant rat rollers.

If you’re not ready to hang it up after a long summer golf season, consider checking out LaunchPad! Modelled after TopGolf in the States, this incredible spot was the first of its kind in all of Canada.
