Ever since The Queen’s Gambit dropped on Netflix, chess has taken on a whole new life. Well, now two guys on Instagram have put a Canadian twist on the classic game. Users @ronbat and @nickmcnaught, took to a frozen lake last week for a little polar-plunge-meets-board-game-tournament.

Not even a little (or a lot of) cold could stop these two from taking the plunge! Although the video on Instagram is only a few seconds long, the actual game lasted 5 whole minutes. We know, we know, 5 minutes doesn’t sound like a crazy about of time for a chess game. But when you’re submerged shoulder-deep in a below-zero frozen lake, that length of time would feel like a lifetime.

In fact, according to McNaught, the lake was sitting at a whopping -20°C. That is very, very cold ya’ll. We’re getting shivers just thinking about it!

The game took place at the popular Ontario location, The Trace at Oak Lake.

So there you have it! The most Canadian game of chess ever has been completed. Now all we need is some dramatic music and a maple syrup addiction (in lieu of Beth Harmon’s drug problem) to really set the scene.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
