The nominations for the 68th annual Grammy Awards were announced on Friday, Nov. 7, and the list is seriously stacked.
Contenders include West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar, who led the pack with nine nominations, followed by producer Jack Antonoff and singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, who followed closely behind with seven nominations each.
Amongst the top musicians in the world, there was also some Canadian representation.
Pop icon Justin Bieber is no stranger to the Grammys, and he nabbed nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for his 2025 release SWAG.
The Biebs was also nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Daisies” and Best R&B Performance for “Yukon.” We’re so proud!
He faces some stiff competition in all categories, including Sabrina Carpenter for her record Man’s Best Friend, Lady Gaga for MAYHEM, and Chappell Roan for her song “The Subway.”
For a long time, Bieber has been one of the few Canadian artists to crack the global charts, but he’s been joined at this year’s Grammys by a surprising newcomer.
Underdog Tate McRae has been nominated for Best Pop Dance Recording for the song “Just Keep Watching” from F1®: The Movie.
Tate is from Calgary, but her moves as a dancer and subsequent pop smash hits have seen her gain a lot of steam on the international music charts in the past few years.
McRae’s 2023 song “Greedy” saw worldwide success, and her 2025 record So Close to What topped the Canadian Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200.
So Close to What surprisingly doesn’t appear on the Grammy nomination list, but it might be the first time the Calgary-raised star attends the coveted music awards show.
Other Canadian musicians nominated include Drake for Best Melodic Rap Performance, Kaytranada for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Laila Biali for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, and Spiritbox for Best Metal Performance.
Let’s give it up for these talented Canadian musicians. We’re cheering you on from the Great White North!
