So, you’ve just finished watching Netflix’s newest hit film Always Be My Maybe… And you couldn’t help but think that some of those restaurants might be in Vancouver. Well, guess what, you’re right. And you can visit all three! Here’s the lowdown on each cameo star.
First is the iconic New Town Bakery. This became Best Luck Dim Sum for the movie! The Chinatown staple has been a fixture in the community for close to four decades. Today, it continues to make some of the best BBQ pork buns in the city.

Next is Nightingale. This casual spot is the sister restaurant of the acclaimed Hawksworth restaurant! Featuring a more laidback approach to fine dining, we love this spot. It’s a great place to go for drinks after work, or for a casual first date. Or if you’re shooting a movie called Always Be My Maybe… But that’s a pretty specific one.
Last up is Autostrada Downtown. We are massive fans of this one! Why? Well, we think that they filled the void left by Cinara before them perfectly. Family style Italian cuisine dominates, with an emphasis on homemade pasta and incredible protein dishes.
As an added bonus, you could also go check out Pidgin. This farm to table fusion spot is where local chef Juno Kim trained Ali Wong for the movie. Soooo they get a shoutout too.
And there you have it! Three (technically four) local restaurants that are now stars of the silver screen. Guess you know where to check out this weekend.
