Feeling a little bit fancy this spring? You’ll be pleased to know that you can take part in the Vancouver Art Gallery’s first-ever online auction! This longtime fundraiser is usually a very formal affair, with spots costing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars each year. So naturally, we’re wondering what’s behind the curtains.

In order to make this happen, the gallery has partnered up with Heffel Fine Art Auction House. Heffel is one of the leading art auction houses in Canada, and they’ve got a major office in Vancouver, so it was probably an easy choice.

The auction officially kicks off on June 1st. But, Vancouver residents will be able to check out the pieces for sale in person starting May 28th. Don’t have the time/energy to get down there? Don’t worry, the full catalogue will be put online as well.

Which is what we’re most excited about. The Vancouver Art Gallery was actually looking for consigned pieces until the end of April, so we have no idea what’s going to pop up for the auction. Once again this is traditionally a super-pricey gala event, reserved for those with the big bucks.

So, we say mark your calendars and get ready to see some zany prices during this upcoming online art auction! Now, will it match the price of an OG meme turned into an NFT? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
