The Toronto Maple Leafs will allow 500 frontline workers to tonight’s game

Fans are back, people! As the team prepares to face off against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 of their current series, they’re inviting frontline health care workers to join in on the fun. Premier Ford made the news official in a statement released this morning.

“Following discussions with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Toronto Public Health and hospital partners,” Ford’s statement reads. “I am happy to announce that they have signed off on allowing 550 fully vaccinated frontline health care workers, including hospital and long term care staff, to be invited to Game 7 of the series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens Scotiabank Arena Tonight.”

Of course, this is still well below the audience capacity that Scotiabank Arena holds. In regular days, the venue is capable of hosting upwards of 19,000 people. But still, it’s the first time in a long time that Toronto will host a live audience at a sporting event, which is a pretty darn big deal.

It’s also the first time in a long time that the Toronto Maple Leafs have made it this far in the playoffs! We’re two-for-two on pretty darn big deals here.

If you’d like to catch this nail-biting game, you can tune in at 7:30 PM EDT. The game will be airing on CBC, Sportsnet, TSN, and NHL Live.

Go Leafs go!
