If you’re into streaming chances are that you know something pretty big went down on TV last night. Not sure what we’re talking about? It has to do with an iconic 1990s TV show and a group of friends. Yes, we’re talking about THE Friends reunion. It’s now available on HBO Max in the U.S. and through Crave in Canada. And naturally people have already checked it out because the first round of reviews and reactions are in.
Firstly we think this pic is pretty sweet. It’s a great time capsule of the show from start to end and then, of course, the reunion.
Time flies but our love to them still remain the same! ❤️

Might as well take a closer look at how the cast is doing these days.

The most common reaction that we saw is that the reunion definitely got people in their feels.

User @tadfilmy pointed out that Friends is a lot more than a TV show for many viewers.
#FriendsReunion Friends was the first English show I watched. For someone who got introduced to the show pretty late (I was 19), it showed me a world beyond my cocoon. It helped me understand different cultures, and just the possibility of a whole world out there.

Of course, people were also loving the Smelly Cat cover by Lisa Kudrow and guest star Lady Gaga.

Now while the reactions were positive for the most part, not everyone was having it. Emily Nussbaum pointed out that things weren’t and aren’t exactly perfect with the show and that the reunion was possibly a little too positive.
I assume that no one on the Friends reunion discusses the writer’s room lawsuit. Or the 3 million “why Friends is problematic” listicles written by pissy Zoomers. Is there an angry rant in there by Gunther?? I want to some dirt in my nostalgic 1990s reunions, people.

Getting a bit more technical, @TVMoJoe pointed out that the release time wasn’t exactly ideal for most folks.
I really think HBO Max missed a marketing opportunity by not having the #FriendsReunion debut at 8 p.m. EDT tomorrow, vs just dropping at 3 a.m. EDT like everything else. Why *not* debut in the show’s longtime linear timeslot, making it more of a social media event?

Yet another hot take.
The one where James Corden’s presence ruined #FriendsTheReunion

We’ll cap the reactions with probably the most buzzworthy. You know the part where Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer said they had feelings for each other in real life? Yeah, that one really got people.
Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer had feelings for each other in real life. Jennifer said to David she hoped their first kiss together wouldn’t be the one on screen but it was. They channeled all of their feelings for each other into Ross and Rachel #FriendsReunion pic.twitter.com/wn1CS42RCJ

We didn’t want to give away too many spoilers because we know that some of you still haven’t watched it. But if you’re a fan of Friends you should probably hop on HBO (or Crave in Canada) and check it out. It’s a great way to start the weekend if you’re into the show. With that, enjoy and uh, don’t cry too much.
