Vancouver is getting a new retro-themed bar with live music & here’s what to know

Guess what, music lovers? Vancouver is getting a new retro-themed bar, restaurant, and live music venue all rolled into one. Its name? The Painted Ship, which will be ‘setting sail’ with its first-ever event this weekend! Let’s get into it.

From the team behind The Heatley in East Van and Mum’s the Word on Commercial Drive, The Painted Ship is set up in the spot formerly occupied by Yagger’s, replacing sports bar screens with groovy 60s and 70s decor and a stage for live music.

Speaking of, local hard rock and DJ collective BC Hydra will be first up on the bar’s performing roster, according to a recent Instagram post.
