Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’ will be filmed in Vancouver & here’s what we know so far

If you’re a fan of post-apocalyptic shows, you’ve no doubt heard of The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The Alberta-filmed series is based on a popular video game of the same name, and just wrapped up its first season with an ominous season finale. Now, the HBO drama is establishing its home base for season 2, and it looks like Joel and Ellie are headed to the Pacific Northwest!

Filming of the first season took place in Calgary, Edmonton, and tons of other well-known locations in Alberta. And according to Deadline, much of season 2 will be filmed right here in Vancouver and the PNW.

Produced by HBO’s Carolyn Strauss along with Evan Wells from the OG game’s developer, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, the show will continue its journey across “America” following a global pandemic and “zombie” outbreak.

While HBO has not yet shared details about production dates, fans of the game know that Joel and Ellie head west in Part II.

So get ready, Vancouver! The crown jewel of Alberta’s film & TV industry is heading our way. And we’re confident that this won’t be the last we hear about The Last of Us season 2 over the next few weeks and months.

For now, we’ll definitely be keeping our eye on what’s filming in BC for dates & info about season 2 production.
