Here are the most popular filming locations featured in Alberta-shot ‘The Last of Us’

With 8.1 million eyes on its 8th episode and glowing reviews of its first season, it’s safe to say HBO’s The Last Of Us and even its filming locations are a massive hit.

Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones), not only has the show given hope to those who believed video game adaptions were just destined to fail but it’s also done wonders for Alberta tourism.

But, with so many results that include parks, schools and rivers between Waterton National Park and Edmonton, how do you know what’s really worth visiting when you’re in the area?

Using hashtag data from Instagram, the gambling site actually analyzed a list of filming locations from The Last of Us to determine how many photographs were taken at each location to determine THE must-see and what they found was pretty cool.

With 683,966 hashtags, Kananaskis was Instagram’s most popular TLOU spot and it’s clear why!

Whether you’re just driving right or plan to take a walk along the river and forested areas as seen in episode 6, it’s absolutely stunning.

In second place, they saw Okotoks with 377,067 tags and in third Waterton, which was featured in “When We Are in Need”  and plays a major role in the storyline.
