‘The Last of Us’ transforms these BC streets into a post-apocalyptic world

The Last of Us fans have an exciting filming update coming their way! The hit HBO show has begun filming its second season in downtown Nanaimo near the historic Old City Quarter, and BC fans have a front-row seat.

According to Downtown Nanaimo, production is in its third stage of closures, which are currently in effect for Commercial, Wharf, and Skinner Streets.

Until May 31st, parts of Diana Krall Plaza will also be closed for production.

Downtown Nanaimo details that other parts of the surrounding area will be closed in “short, planned phases” – however, most shops and restaurants will remain open throughout filming, as well as the Harbour Front Parkade!

This is great news for Nanaimo residents and visitors, who can potentially catch some of the action as it unfolds in front of the camera.

What’s more, local men’s clothing brand NYLA Fresh Thread captured it all from their store, revealing the area’s overgrown grass and greenery, broken down and rusted vehicles, and the addition of military tanks. Talk about a post-apocalyptic transformation!
