They came, we saw, and they’ll likely conquer. Filmed entirely in Alberta, HBO’s apocalyptic heartbreaker, The Last Of Us, captivated audiences and this award season, they could win major big time.
Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones), this show gave hope to those who believed video game adaptions were destined to fail, and caught the attention of critics, earning a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

For this reason, it should come as no surprise that the apocalyptic drama is among other hit shows including Succession and The White Lotus to earn several nominations ahead of this year’s Emmy Awards.
Up for Best Drama Series, The Last Of Us will go head to head with their fellow HBO productions including House of The Dragon in addition to Andor, Better Call Saul, The Crown and Yellowjackets – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
Not only could they take home the award for Best Drama Series, but Joel and Ellie themselves were also nominated alongside Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook from Succession, Elisabeth Moss from The Handmaid’s Tale and Melanie Lynskey from Yellowjackets (among others) for outstanding leads in a drama series.
Lynskey is also up for her guest role as Kathleen in the Naughtydog Adaption, with Nick Offerman (Bill), Lamar Johnson (Henry), Keivonn Montreal Woodard (Sam), Storm Reid (Riley) and Anna Torv (Tess) on the docket as well.
These add to their total of 24 nominations overall, which comes in second only to Succession with a whopping 27.
From outstanding production design to casting, costuming, directing, editing and even title design, we’re hoping they take it all home – but we’ll have to wait and see.
The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Monday, September 18th, at 6 pm MST and we’ll be watching! Will you?
