From rusty vehicles to brush-covered streets, the set designers behind Alberta-shot HBO series The Last Of Us have completely transformed familiar buildings, bridges, and pathways since they began filming last summer – but this week we got to see them come to life.

While fans have been granted several photos of the set, these last couple of days have been chalked full of video footage of actors Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Narcos) and Bella Ramsey (Game Of Thrones) storming Calgary’s downtown fully costumed, fully armed, and fully committed to their roles as two deeply beloved characters.

Based on the ultra-popular videogame, The Last Of Us chronicles the lives of Joel, a smuggler, and Ellie, a young girl that he’s tasked with escorting across post-apocalyptic America years after a mutating fungus infects most of society.

As you can imagine, with HBO as the driving force behind the series, these sets, the production, and the hype for its 2023 premiere date are major – with those all over the province going out of their way to catch a glimpse of what’s to come.

Here are just a few images that have been shared by those in Calgary this week, starting with a very recent clip taken by dbaxter1304 on Reddit of Pascal and Ramsey owning YYC’s inner city:

Sadly, as we mentioned, it will be quite some time until we see the show take the small screen – but consider us ready.

If things look this good through an iPhone lens, just imagine what it’ll look like with a little Hollywood magic!

Until then, keep your eyes open and continue to be respectful of the cast and crew in and around the city! You may never know when or what you might see while they continue to film The Last Of Us in and around Calgary- but it’s probably worth making a good impression.
