Spring is about to be sprung! Brighter days are on the horizon, people. The Farmer’s Almanac just released its spring weather predictions across the country. Although we’re all knee-deep in winter weather right now, it looks like thing’ll be changing in a mere matter of weeks.

So what can we expect? We’re glad you asked. The spring equinox is happening on Saturday, March 20th at 5:37 AM EST. That’s right around the corner! At this time, the sun will be directly over the Earth’s equator; marking our official turn toward longer days and eventually summer solstice.

Throughout the spring season, we’ll see some pretty interesting trends here in Canada. Those of you in the Prairies north to Yukon and the Northwest Territories can expect above-normal temperatures for the season. From Ontario further east, the rest of Canada will be stuck with near and below normal temps.

As for rainfall? Folks in Atlantic Canada and the Prairies will be hit will near or below normal levels. While elsewhere we’ll be staying near or above average.

The Farmer’s Almanac also says that we may see an earlier than normal start to gardening season this year. So if you’re planning on growing your own veggies this year, now’s a good time to start thinking about it.

So there you have it! Don’t know about you, but we’re definitely ready for longer days of sunshine and warmer temps all around.
