Have you’ve been daydreaming about what life would be like if you had enough money to do whatever you want, and are getting tired of all the mansions on the market right now? First off, welcome to the club, because we (for better or worse) do this weekly. And second, rather than buying yourself a basic mansion with a golf simulator, why not skip that step and buy a full 18-hole golf course that’s currently up for sale?
Say hello to the Falcon, one of the best public courses in Quebec.
Located just outside of Montreal, the Falcon was built in 2001 by Graham Cooke, a notable golf architecture firm that has done everything from inner-city pitch and putts to destination resorts and private clubs. Over the years, their designs have won a score of awards, ranging from the best new Canadian course to the best public golf courses in the world.
Luckily, the Falcon is no exception. Combining a riverfront location with ample trees and water features, it’s no wonder that the course was ranked among the best value courses in Canada for 2021. What’s more, it was the top pick out of Quebec, so you won’t have any issues getting people out to play it.
Playing over 7,000 yards from the tips, the course can fit almost any skill level, from beginners to pros. Need to work on your game before you start playing $1 a hole with some pals? Don’t worry, there’s also a practice range to get your reps in.
While the $6,500,000 price point is undoubtedly out of our reach, the reality is that it is absolutely on par with most mansions for sale in Metro Vancouver and Toronto.
Such as this spot in South Surrey, BC is listed at a cool $7.49M…
Plus, it’s not hard to spend that much in cities like Calgary or Edmonton, if you know where to look. Like this castle-like mansion in Calgary is listed at $8.75M…
And assuming you get the course lock, stock and barrel, there’s no doubt you’ll blow the amenities of one of those mansions out of the water. Tons of bathrooms around the property? Check. Massive backyard and some golf carts to drive around it on? Double check. Private lake for you to row out into the middle of and reflect on your life of leisure? Triple check. Really, all we think it needs is a nice little hut somewhere so that you can rest up, read books about golf, and have a good vantage point of the grounds.
Then, you can live the rest of your days as ‘that golf fan who bought a course just for fun’. Is that how we think most of the folk on Succession stories will end? Absolutely. And in our daydreams, we’re going to beat them to it.
