Listen up shutterbugs, your love for the city and your love for snapping its beauty can win you some serious recognition and some crazy prices as well. And we have The Dorian Hotel in Calgary to thank for it. The luxury hotel is running a photo contest, Capture the New Calgary.
Given that visual storytelling is the inspiration behind it, The Dorian Hotel is looking for visual storytellers who can inspire, inform and awe. They want to see how you capture the eclectic and beautiful city of Calgary through your lens.
The winning photos will be printed and displayed at The Dorian Hotel, giving you a chance to share your work with a wider audience. The whole idea behind the contest is to bring the local feel of Calgary into the hotel and showcase it to its guests.
In addition to showcasing photos (some of which can be yours), the hotel is also giving away cash prizes and stay packages.
The first prize winner will receive a whopping $1,500 cash prize, along with a night’s stay at The Dorian, valet parking, and breakfast for two. The second prize winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and the same stay package, while the third prize winner will receive $750 and the same stay package.

The hotel is doing one better and even rewarding the fourth and fifth-place winners with $500 and $250 respectively. How cool is that!
The best part is that you aren’t restricted to one entry. You can submit up to 5 different pictures. Of course, the pictures have to be of Calgary and nearby areas.
The contest is open to photographers in Calgary and the surrounding areas. And the last date for submitting the pictures is Friday, May 12th, 2023.
