While they didn’t shout it from the rooftops, the City of Vancouver did do something to remind us that patio season is just around the corner, and we’re thankful they did. On Monday, the city announced that they were once again accepting applications for commercial patios. And, they can be open as early as April 1st! Nope, we’re not fooling.

Last year, the city saw hundreds of temporary patios be approved, to accommodate outdoor dining options while public health restrictions were in place. While there were a couple of hangups here and there, the program was a resounding success overall. And now, it’s coming back!

The patio applications are free. And, they can be built on either public or private property, once the proper zoning rules are dealt with and approval is given (from either the city or the owner). For reference, the City of Vancouver saw over 400 temporary patios last summer.

Well, here’s hoping there are even more this go-around! Vancouver is a truly amazing place to be in the summer, and we want to soak up as much of it as we can.
