The brand new Chinatown Storytelling Centre opens next week after 3 years of prep

A first of its kind space is set to open in Vancouver’s Chinatown next week. On November 6th, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre will finally be opening its doors, after over three years (!!) of preparations. Curious about what to expect? We’ve got all the info you need.

The Chinatown Storytelling Centre is, you guessed it, centred around the experiences of Chinese immigrants in Vancouver and beyond. The stories on display will reach back over 100 years, starting in the 1880s and moving all the way up until the present day.

These stories will be told through interactive exhibits, featuring artifacts, photos and recordings. The centre will be a self-guided experience, which means you can take as much time as you need to explore the downright incredible stories.

Hopefully, the centre will offer a whole new way to look at the area, through the lived experiences of its residents over the years. We think it’s definitely worth checking out once it’s open!

When: Opens Saturday, November 6th
Where: 168 East Pender Street
