A new limited series filmed in Alberta, focused on the death of American child beauty pageant contestant JonBenét Ramsey, will be hitting Netflix this winter.
The series will focus on one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history, and the devastating personal and public reckoning that followed Ramsey’s death.
Ramsey was a child beauty pageant contestant from Boulder, Colorado, and was found dead in her family’s home in December 1996. The case gained intense media fascination and heavy scrutiny on the child’s parents; however, no one has ever been charged with the crime.
Production on the series began in Calgary in early September 2024 and wrapped up at the end of January 2025, per ACTRA Alberta.
Two-time Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy stars in the project alongside Clive Owen, with the duo portraying JonBenét Ramsey’s parents, Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey.
The limited series’ writers include Richard LaGravenese, Harrison Query, and Tommy Wallach.
Netflix announced earlier this month that the series will land on the streaming service later this winter, after it was previously announced as a Paramount+ project.
