Stars are arriving in the city for TIFF 2021 and the red carpets are abuzz with reporters and flashing cameras. Some of the most highly-anticipated films of the year are making their worldwide debut at the two-week festival, which wraps up on Saturday, September 18th – and their A-list cast members are celebrating the occasion in their finest suits and gowns.

Now that we’re nearly halfway through the festival, here are some of the best premiere looks we’ve seen so far, worn by the biggest stars to attend the 2021 event.

Benedict Cumberbatch looked dapper for the premiere of his two TIFF films, Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog and Will Sharpe’s The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. He also received the TIFF Tribute Actor Award on Sunday, September 12th. He traded his tux for a pair of slacks and a collared shirt with a light jacket over top.

Jessica Chastain stunned in two distinct red carpet looks for the world premiere of The Forgiven and The Eyes of Tammy Faye, one of the most highly anticipated films to be screened at the festival this year. She rocked a shimmery jumpsuit for the daytime premiere and a sparkly black dress in the evening.

Later, Chastain was photographed in a multicoloured Moschino two-piece outfit, similar to the one that Zendaya wore to the Space Jam premiere earlier this year.

Chastain told Yahoo Life that she’s starting to feel like an honourary Canadian citizen after all the time she’s spent here. “I’ve made six movies in Toronto, two in Montreal, so I kind of feel like I’m Canadian, if you guys will have me,” she said.

Rebecca Ferguson attended the Dune screening at Ontario Place on Saturday, looking absolutely gorgeous in a black gown.

Julianne Moore was all smiles on the red carpet of Dear Evan Hansen next to her co-star Ben Platt. Moore wore a textured grey dress with a black blazer. Amandla Stenberg, who also stars in the film, wore one of the most eye-catching looks of the event, a long skirt with a black bandeau with tassles and a matching choker.

British actor Josh O’Connor wore a printed suit with interesting graphics to the premiere of Mothering Sunday, in which he stars.

With a few festival days left to go, we already know there are going to be some more celebs to spot in the city pretty soon.
