Take a Stroll With King Penguins At Calgary Zoo’s Annual Penguin Walk

After a year of cancellations, we’re happy to announce that the Calgary Zoo’s annual Penguin Walk is back, baby! For the 9th year in a row, Calgarians can enjoy this truly unique winter experience, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome it back.

So, what exactly is a penguin walk? Well, it’s essentially a daily walk for the king penguin colony through the zoo grounds. Through the winter months, these daily enrichment walks keep the penguins’ brains and bodies healthy. Oh, but it also gives visitors a remarkable opportunity to get an up-close look at the lil dudes waddling their way through the grounds. Sounds like a win, win to us!

From now until mid-March, every day at 10 AM lucky spectators can get up close and personal with a gorgeous group of king penguins, And this year, with measures to ensure the health and safety of all staff and guests! So before you head out, make sure you snag your timed tickets in advance.

This year, there will be two entry time slots to purchase your tickets from. The first entry slot is from 9 AM to 9:30 AM, and the second slot is from 9:30 AM to 10 AM.

Naturally, the walk depends on the weather. If it’s too chilly or windy and the kings decide to stay in, then they’ll be staying in. So, if you’re planning ahead, make sure to keep an eye on the zoo’s website and social media and that ever-changing weather forecast.

So put on your parka, grab your ticket, and have a flippin’ good time!
