The only thing better than free concerts is free outdoor concerts – especially in the summertime. Warm sunshine, cool breeze, and the sound of violin strings moving through the air as you lounge on a picnic blanket in the grass – yes we’re talking about Symphony in the Park!

A beloved annual tradition at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, Symphony in the Park is celebrating 34 years this year. Best of all? No tickets are required!

This year, the symphony will transport park patrons to other worlds, from the halls of Hogwarts in John Williams’ rendition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to the land of dinos via Jurassic Park highlights.

Of course, no symphony is complete without a little classic Italian opera, so naturally, the romantic overtures of Carmen and the Barber of Seville will make an appearance.
