One of Alberta's cutest lake towns will become a magical wonderland this winter

It might be chilly outside, but the incoming winter months will give you the warm fuzzies—especially if you’re headed to Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Located between Calgary and Edmonton, this particular town is breathtaking, even after everything freezes over.
A winter-friendly lake town
You’ve likely been to Sylvan in the summer months, but it’s so much more than a charming town with a beautiful beach.
When temperatures drop and there’s no sand to build a castle with, consider making a snowman instead!
From festivals and activities for locals and visitors alike, there’s no shortage of things to do in and around the area.

Come December, the town will bring its ice-covered lake back to life, but not without an event featuring plenty of food and fun.
A festival that will take place over two days, Light Up the Lake will feature a breakfast with Santa Claus, workshops, a parade, and fireworks—all in celebration of a colourful holiday season.
Afterward, go ice fishing, walk through their twinkling displays, go ice skating, have a bonfire, or ride snow carts. There is a ton to do and see.
If, of course, you’d like to go somewhere to escape the cold, there are also several shops, restaurants, cafés, and the Sylvan Lake Theatre, as well as hotels where you can get a good night’s sleep.
It’s a beautiful place, no matter the time of year, so check it out and bundle up!
You won’t want to miss a beat… or a bulb!
