Summer may have come and gone, but now is the perfect time to visit Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Located between Calgary and Edmonton, this charming lake town is picturesque with plenty to do, eat, and see in and around the area.
There are, however, a few things you need to know before checking it out.
From adorable boutiques and restaurants like The Lighthouse and Lodge 43, Sylvan is a great place for a shopping trip or a lunch date, but if you’ve got an entire weekend, we’d recommend staying the night!
Sylvan Lake has over 26 kilometres of trails connecting their downtown and the lakefront, where you’ll find their famous lighthouse.
Originally modelled after that on Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia, this iconic building has been an iconic symbol of Sylvan Lake since 1988 and is one of the only inland lighthouses between the Pacific Coast and Lake Winnipeg.
Are you a history buff? Take a historic walking tour!
Located on Centennial Street and the Lakeshore Drive promenade, curious cats should keep their eyes peeled for plaques marking old buildings.
If after you’ve gotten your steps in, you still want to participate in local happenings, check out their seasonal calendar.
When temperatures drop and the leaves change colours, visitors can attend a number of fun fall events like the Witches Paddle, where you’ll be encouraged to toss on a hat and trade in your broom for a board or brave their Freakshow Frights Haunted House.
There’s truly no place quite like it, and it’s at its best in the autumn, so start the car!
Fall certainly doesn’t last very long and you won’t want to miss a beat.
Heck, maybe we’ll see you out there. Happy travelling.
