Calgary billionaire & Uber co-founder Garret Camp to be portrayed in upcoming series

From mind to matter, Uber has become an international sensation worth nearly 100 billion dollars. This, of course, is a well-known fact known by anyone with an interest in tech. What some may not know is that the company actually has roots planted in Calgary, mainly through co-founder Garrett Camp, who will be portrayed in the upcoming drama series Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber.

While the focus of the show will be on the “bad boy of tech” and former UBER CEO Travis Kalanick (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), we can only assume that Calgary will get a subtle nod from producers.

Camp, who will be portrayed by Jon Bass (Miracle Workers) in the show, was born and raised in Calgary and received both his undergrad and masters at the University of Calgary before moving to San Francisco to pursue his career.

From there, Camp founded the popular internet site StumbleUpon (now Mix), before coming up with the idea that got the ball rolling for Uber, which was later founded in 2009.

Much like the book that it’s based on, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber will delve deeper into how the company practically took over the world, showcasing everything from the team’s best ideas to the many scandals that prompted the forced resignation of Kalanick in 2017.

Can’t wait to check it out? The show (which also stars Uma Thurman and Kyle Chandler) is set to hit small screens on February 27th, so take note. You won’t want to miss this one.
