Fall may be short, but it’s oh-so-sweet, and so are the many trails in and around Alberta. Among the best? Sundance Canyon in Banff National Park.

Located just minutes from downtown, this hidden gem offers incredible views of the Bow River, towering trees, and a water-filled canyon, but there are a few things to know before heading out!

Looking for adventure?

You’ll have to start at the Cave and Basin Historical Site!

Here, you’ll find a paved trailhead, where hikers can expect “a gentle yet steady climb away from the river” and then a moderately difficult loop through the ravine.

According to Travel Alberta, this particular hike is 11 kilometres round trip, but bikes or rollerblades can be used on the first 4 km before the paved section comes to an end.
