We hope you’re feeling cool already, because the summer forecast for Alberta is calling for some pretty hot days ahead! While some other parts of the country are looking at a fairly average summer, most of our province is in for above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall. Let’s check it out.

The report comes from Accuweather, which released a national outlook earlier this week. While Edmonton is benefiting from average rainfall, it’s looking like practically everything south of the city will continue to experience drought-like conditions, if not actual drought itself. Of course, the dry conditions mean an increased risk of wildfires, so we’re expecting fire bans to be in effect pretty much all summer long.

We’re not getting much relief on the temperature side of things, either. Alongside most of Atlantic Canada, the vast majority of our province is also in for above average heat this summer. Based on the summer forecast for Alberta, we’re seriously hoping for rain in the coming weeks and months. If only to balance things out.

Otherwise, it might just be time to double up our fan count, and maybe even make the investment into an A/C unit. Got to stay cool somehow!
