Avalanche defensemen Cale Makar to bring the Stanley Cup home to Calgary next week

The Calgary Flames may have not won the Stanley Cup this past year, but the city’s biggest hockey fans will still get a taste of victory.

Cale Makar, who had an all-star season on the Colorado Avalanche, announced on Twitter that as per championship tradition, he’s bringing it home!

“Everyone gets it [the Stanley Cup] for one day,” he told pro golfer Paul Goydos in a recently shared video. “Most guys take it to their hometown.”

A former Brooks Bandits team member, Makar grew up in Calgary and frequently shows the city love on his social media.

This past season, not only did his team break the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 2-year winning streak, but he alone won the Norris and Conn Smythe trophy, for proving to be an outstanding player during the playoffs.

While the details of his one-day tour have yet to be released, Calgary can expect a Stanley cup show and tell, Thursday, August 11th – so get ready!

Who knows, maybe it’ll bring us good luck in 2023!
