This gorgeous botanical city is only minutes from Edmonton

This botanical city is beautiful all year round, and it’s only minutes away from Edmonton.
St. Albert is called the Botanical Arts city of Alberta, known for its rich arts and cultural history as well as gorgeous scenery. It’s home to the Arden Theatre, many great local restaurants, and a fantastic downtown district. Despite being a city, it still has that small-town vibe and charm.
Gorgeous natural beauty
The non-profit volunteer-run botanical park is a prime spot of beauty. During the summer, there is a spectacular array of flowers, trees, and plants galore. It’s open day and night, and it’s even available to walk through in these colder months.
There’s also Seven Hills, known for being a prime tobogganing spot— if you like to live on the wild side. It’s a large rolling hill, or hills, with a stunning overview of the downtown district. You can watch cars drive through the city like little sparkling lights; it’s a perfect spot for sightseeing.
Even just walking downtown itself, taking in the sights around St. Albert Public Library, it’s so beautiful.
With events happening all the time
No matter the season, the city is bustling with events, festivals, and markets.
If you’re in the know, you’d be aware of the Magic of Lights drive-thru event happening at RAD Torque Raceway. Well, St. Albert has its own version, called the Borealis Lights. From now until Jan. 7, get yourself into the spirit with this captivating display of whimsical and festive scenes.
Coming up, we have the Snowflake Festival on Nov. 22, which will be illuminating Perron Street and the downtown area. Along with the return of the popular sleigh rides, Santa will make an appearance, along with train rides and a petting zoo to keep everyone busy. It will be the ultimate festival for holiday cheer this season.
The best downtown district around Edmonton
Perron Street is basically just taken out of a Hallmark movie. It’s so small-town-esque and has a charm you can only find outside of Edmonton. Its downtown district makes for the perfect afternoon or evening trip, with stores, the huge library, and even an art gallery!
And, if you’re hungry, there is no shortage of food options.
Some of the best and must-visit restaurants around St. Albert’s downtown district would have to be the Riverbank Bistro and Sushi Park. If you’re looking for a brunch spot, visit Wildroots Bistro, or for a quick lunch, check out Jack’s Burger Shack. No matter what you choose, every option is a great one.
From downtown to the rolling Seven Hills, there’s so much this city has to offer.
No matter what you choose to do in this small city, you’re going to have a blast.
