Alberta’s spring forecast is here & this is what you can expect

Those who live in the prairie provinces are certified weather warriors and come the end of March – we’ve got to wear our bravest faces. From Snow to hail, rain and sun, the post-winter season can be pretty chaotic; luckily, for those ready to jump on in, the Weather Network has dropped its 2022 spring forecast for Alberta, which gives us a better idea of what to expect over these next few months. Spoiler alert – it might not be pretty.

With what they say are “changeable patterns’, ahead, Alberta is advised to stay ready and prepared for an array of conditions as we transition from winter to spring.

“We’re no stranger to turbulent temperatures and drastic swings across the prairie provinces,” Meteorologist, Jessie Uppall said. “That’s definitely something to expect this season.”

In fact, The Weather Network is calling for snowstorms this April (Calgary’s expected to see the brunt of it), as well as temperatures lower than the national average. Bummer, right?

On the bright side, these “lower than average” temperatures are in the high teens – which is still an improvement here in Alberta!

“At this point, we are cautiously optimistic that this region will head into the upcoming growing season in better condition than last year,” they said, ending their 2022 spring forecast for Alberta on a high note.

In conclusion, Alberta will likely have to wait until the end of April to see nicer weather – and then when we do, it won’t be as hot as other provinces – but it won’t be below zero for much longer and for that we can be thankful.

Patio season is upon us – and we’ll be waiting with our sandals on standby.
