Great news, seafood lovers! Prawn season is upon us, which means the highly-anticipated Spot Prawn Festival will be making its 2023 return to Fisherman’s Wharf in False Creek in just a few weeks.
The spot prawn is considered a crown jewel of B.C., known around the world for its sweet, delicate flavour and firm texture. We’ve definitely lucked out on the west coast, as prawn season can last anywhere from six to eight weeks.

On Sunday, May 28th, you can join the Chefs’ Table Society of British Columbia for a celebration of an iconic BC product and raise funds for education, mentorship, and sustainability initiatives across the province.
Nothing tastes better than purpose-driven chowder!
The family-friendly festival will include live cooking demos with some of Vancouver’s top chefs, as well as live music, and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

While the festival is free to attend, you may want to splurge on their Spot Prawn Brunch tasting menu, which features portions of six prawn dishes for $79. For just $10, you can get 10 oz of New England-style chowder—our mouths are already watering!
Note that while the festival is free to enjoy, tickets are required if you want to sample chef-created dishes.
