On today’s segment of “no, we’re not making this up,” Ontario’s Highway 401 had an unfortunate mess on its hands yesterday. A stretch of Canada’s busiest highway was forced to close some of its lanes on Thursday thanks to a truckload of spilled manure.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division tweeted about the incident on Friday afternoon, saying that the westbound express lanes near Keele St in North York were restricted for 5 hours “while the smelly mess was cleaned up.”
“Load of manure cleaned up after a transport truck was cut off [causing the] load to spill,” OPP stated. Given how clogged this highway is at practically all hours of the day, this incident probably caused some major headaches, and not just because of the smell.

Needless to say, the people of Twitter are having a great time poking fun at the crappy situation. “Did you use a #2 Pencil to write the ticket?” reads one reply. “Found <insert party here>’s election platform,” says another.
