This park in Ontario has a waterfall nearly the size of Niagara Falls

Just a one drive outside of Toronto is one of Ontario’s most spectacular geological formations – Spencer Gorge! The stunning conservation area boasts two waterfalls, one that’s nearly the size of Niagara Falls!

The falls are the main attraction at Spencer Gorge – Webster and Tew Falls.

According to the Hamilton Conservation Authority, “Webster is a magnificent tiered waterfall and Tew, which towers at 41 metres, is only a few metres shorter than Niagara Falls. Both offer spectacular vistas of the gorge.”

Webster has two lookouts. The first lookout features a view down into the gorge and a close-up of Webster Falls. The lookout also features stone walls and interpretive panels in the area.

From here, you’ll cross a cobblestone bridge.

The bridge was built in 1936, and after some repairs over the years was officially reopened in 2000.

Continue your hike uphill to the accessible Dobson McKeee lookout that gives you a complete view of Webster Falls. There are plaques in this area with information and accessible seating!

The second set of falls are the big ones.

Logie’s Creek tumbles 41 metres over the escarpment to form Tew Falls, just a few metres less in height than Niagara Falls!

The gorge at Tew Falls is 41 metres (134.5 feet) tall. The Horseshoe Falls measures 52 metres (170 feet) tall. Though the water flow is less than Webster Falls, the sheer height of the falls is what makes it so pretty.

There are two platforms just off the Bruce Trail that allow visitors a view of the gorge and the view below.

Parking comes on a first-come-first-serve basis so if you’re planning on visiting be sure to get there early in the day.

Vehicle and driver passes cost $16.00 while passengers over 5 years of age cost $5.00 per person. If you’re walking or biking over you just have to pay the $5 per person fee.
