It won’t be long until we’re in the dark, Calgary, the 2024 solar eclipse is hot on our heels and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be hosting an event in cahoots with the TELUS Spark Science Centre.

An event in which light from the sun will be blocked by the moon, the mesmerizing phenomenon is not to be missed!

According to NASA, events like this are rare and while the city will only get a partial glimpse, you won’t get to see another one until 2044.

Interested? Mark your calendar for Monday, April 8th, 2024, then head to the northeast venue with your friends and family or special someone.

In addition to one pair of complimentary glasses per family and telescopes throughout, the science centre will be showing their new planetary show, “Chasing Shadows” and will also be streaming a live video of the path of totality, so check it out.

“Events like the total solar eclipse on April 8 are not just rare astronomical spectacles… they’re moments that connect us all to the wonders of the universe,” says Zack Anderson, Director of Science Connections.

“Hosting this event allows Spark to bring the community together to experience the beauty and mystery of the eclipse firsthand safely and educationally.”
