Alright Calgary, the highly awaited Sled Island 2022 full music lineup is finally here! The 150+ artists revealed on May 3rd have been added to a list of more than 30 previously announced artists, confirming over 200 acts to perform at this year’s festival! So if you’ve been itchin’ for some live music after a quieter couple of years, this is your chance.

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2022

Newly announced additions to this year’s lineup include resounding indie rock legends Built to Spill, acclaimed ambient singer-songwriter Grouper, SoCal pop punk heroes Joyce Manor, minimalist indie luminaries Low, beloved Calgary musician and visual artist Chad VanGaalen, “surf noir” four-piece La Luz, psych-heavy garage rock trio L.A. Witch, industrial horror-core rap artist and 2020 Polaris Prize-winner Backxwash, accomplished Canadian singer-songwriter Julie Doiron, prolific rapper and producer R.A.P. Ferreira, Olympia’s heavy-as-hell death metal tour-piece Mortiferum, trailblazing doom-meets-noise project Body Void, Calgary-based doom metal duo Mares of Thrace, and recently-established heavy metal outfit Worse, featuring former members of Pride Tiger and 3 Inches of Blood.These acts join already announced artists such as guest curator Sudan Archives, Princess Nokia, Alex Cameron, SASAMI, Lydia Lunch RETROVIRUS, PEARS, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Pantayo, and many, many more.

The full music lineup also includes Mint Records staple Necking, Big Rig, the new “twangmo” project from The Courtneys’ Jen Payne, head-turning alt-pop trio Little Destroyer, quirky art rock outfit Motherhood, Toronto-based garage punks Wine Lips, toe-tapping jangle-pop trio Motorists, alt-R&B electronic artist Janette King, jazz-tinged experimental rock group Heaven For Real, alternative singer-songwriter Marlaena Moore, and Montreal avant-pop artist Hélène Barbier.

As tradition, the music and arts festival strives to showcase local talent. Canadian artists joining the 2022 lineup, include industrial noise punks DRI HIEV, always-evolving psych pop quartet Sunglaciers, indie dream rock outfit Crystal Eyes, adored singer-songwriter Samantha Savage Smith, Western-influenced prairie punks Stripmall, experimental post-punk group Brain Bent, the incomparable rap stylings of Tea Fannie, true-school hip-hop duo Dragon Fli Empire, Indigenous techno/electronic artist sean beaver, and post-punk supergroup Stucco, featuring members of DRI HIEV, Slut Prophet, Window Lamp, and more.
