This Ontario park with lakeside views of fall has rustic heated cabins

Fall weekends call for road trips and getaways. Don’t let the brisk weather keep you indoors. Bundle up and explore Ontario! We suggest visiting Silent Lake Provincial Park for a few days of relaxation. We’re talking lakeside views and rustic heated cabins for your camping needs. Here’s what to know.

Silent Lake Provincial Park is about two and a half hours east of Toronto. This Ontario park is home to over 19 km of hiking trails with scenic lookout points and 17 km of mountain biking trails.

This is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise with canoe adventures within a 2.5 km long lake and stunning surrounding scenery.

It’s important to note that Silent Lake stays true to its name – it’s silent as no motorboats or electric motors are permitted.

Are you a land explorer? There are three trails to enjoy; Lakehead Loop Trail which is the shortest at 1.5 km; Bonnie’s Pond Trail at 3 km and Lakeshore Hiking Trail at 15 km which is designed for a more experienced hiker as it’ll take you six hours roundtrip to complete.

Though the majority of the lookout spots are located along Lakeshore Hiking Trail, walk along Bonnie’s Pond trail as it meets with the longer trail’s lookout point.

As for biking, the trail offers two loops; 11 km and 17 km in length. “Caution should be taken as the trail crosses the park road and is shared track in some portions. The trails are subject to closure during spring/wet conditions,” shared Ontario Parks.

Now if you’re here for camping, you’re in luck!

Camping

Enjoy a fall camping experience in one of the many rustic cabins available at the park.

You’ll find cozy roofed accommodations and electrical sites perfect for RVs, to walk-in sites for those who happen to be one with nature. Ontario Parks shares that those that prefer a “glamping” experience, will love Silent Lake’s cabins and yurts.

These are heated cabins with an electric baseboard and propane fireplace.

It’s fully equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, kettle, and counter space. There is a dining table and chairs inside and a gas BBQ and picnic table.

All you have to bring is your own bedding, food, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, and other personal items.

It’s important to note that there is a minimum two-night stay and three nights on long weekends.

If this sounds like something up your alley, check out the reservation page for more information and availability.

Considering this park has many beautiful scenic locations to view fall colours, this is the perfect season to explore the land. And we’re sure others will think the same so you may want to act fast and plan your trip ASAP.
