A large sandy beach with blue waters awaits at an Ontario park on Lake Simcoe

Grab your bathing suit! If you live in or near Toronto, this Ontario park is close by and perfect for a beach day. Sibbald Point Provincial Park is nestled along Lake Simcoe, offering sandy shores to lounge on and blue waters to swim in.

Sibbald spans Lake Simcoe’s southern shores, just an over by car from Toronto.

The main attraction here is the beach, boasting sandy shores and waters that are safe to swim in.

If you’re planning on bringing your family for a beach day, Ontario Parks states, “There is a buoyed swimming area, but please note there are no lifeguards posted.”

If sitting at the beach has you feeling restless, there are a handful of trails you can explore at Sibbald as well.

The Maidenhair Fern Trail is a two-kilometre loop, marked as an easy hike. This self-guided trail takes a “close look at the variety of ecosystems at Sibbald Point.” If you want to learn more as you venture, you can pick up the trail brochure at the trailhead, the Registration Office or the Park Office.

The Cultural History of Sibbald Point Provincial Park is another “easy” trail, just one kilometre in length.

According to Ontario Parks, “This walk explores the rich history of the Sibbald Family through an interpretive guidebook.”

“Park visitors will explore the Eildon Hall Museum (Sibbald Family Estate Home (ca. 1836), the settler’s cabin, a walk down “The Avenue”, St. George’s Anglican Church (ca.1877) and graveyard which is the burial site of famous Canadian authors Stephen Butler Leacock and Mazo de la Roche.”

Day passes/vehicle passes to enter the park start at $12.25.
