Lace up your skates: A festive outdoor skating plaza is now open in North Vancouver

If you love hitting the ice every holiday season, the Shipyards Skate Plaza in North Vancouver is a must-visit every year. After all, it’s not only the largest outdoor ice skating surface in the region, but nearby a ton of festive amenities!

In an email with Curiocity, the City of North Vancouver confirms that the beloved skate plaza is opening for the season sooner rather than later.

Starting Friday, December 1st, you can head over and rent some skates for $7 a pop ($5 for kids) and skate to your heart’s content. And if you bring your own, this is a free activity to enjoy!

Enjoy some stunning waterfront views as you skate, and even pop into the nearby Polygon Gallery to make a day of it.

The skate plaza will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. daily, with reduced hours on December 24th (open from 1 to 5 p.m.) and closed on December 25th.

Note that the ice rink is closed for cleaning from 3 to 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. every day.

So there you have it, ice skating enthusiasts! Get ready for another festive season at the Shipyards!
