There’s a park in Ontario with a trail that offers a birds-eye view of a flowing lake

Outdoor fall adventure await at Sheffield Conservation Area. Home to a dark sky viewing area, trails and five gorgeous lakes, here’s what to know about this lovely Ontario Park.
The park is maintained by the county of Lennox and Addington and can be found at at 8032 County Road 41, in Erinsville.
According to Quinte Conservation, the park has, what’s described as an “advanced” 4.5 km long trail. It loops through the grounds and offers a gorgeous birds-eye view of Little Melon Lake.
For hikers that are not really used to long treks, they may find the trail a little challenging.
It could take up to six hours to complete. But there is a shortcut that will shave off a kilometre from your trip.
Besides the trail, there’s also a path to its Dark Skies Viewing Area where you’ll find stunning views of the surrounding five lakes; Little Mellon Lake, Devil Lake, Round Lake, Mud Lake, and Haley Lake.
Do I have to pay?
The conservation area requires visitors to pay for parking which is $6. For more information on fees, click here.
It’s important to note that Sheffield is closed for parking from December (depending on snowfall) to March. “Winter conditions present safety concerns, and road repairs during this period are beyond Quinte Conservation’s capacity, and spring conditions can’t support vehicle traffic,” shares the conservation area.
“Visitors can still access this area by parking at the Dark Sky Viewing Area and walking in.”
But it is still November and you have more than enough time to plan your nature adventure before it gets too cold.
