Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. And the nation collectively will be spending a lot of money on gifts this year, according to a new report by WalletHub. But which US city is the best for Valentine’s Day?

“This year, Americans collectively will spend a record $14.2 billion on Valentine’s day gifts — from greeting cards to jewelry to a special night out — with the average lovebird shelling out $186,” states the report.

And with love in the air, WalletHub looked to find the most romantic and cost-effective cities for celebrating Valentine’s Day.

“We compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across 25 key metrics, ranging from florists per capita to forecasted precipitation to cost of a three-course meal for two,” they state.

So who came on top?

According to WalletHub, that goes to San Francisco.

Their reasoning is that “it has the highest prevalence of affordable restaurants, florists and gift shops rated at least 4.5 stars. That covers dinner and presents – but the city is also perfect for dates, with an extremely high number of attractions.”

And in second is our very own, Seattle.

“Seattle isn’t just the setting for famous romantic comedies – it’s also the second-best city to be in on Valentine’s Day,” WalletHub states. “For those who want to spoil their partner, it has the highest prevalence of affordable jewelry shops rated at least 4.5 stars, plus also ranks at the top for affordable restaurants and florists.”

They also add that it is likely to have good weather on Valentine’s Day.

Following Seattle are San Diego in third, Portland in fourth, and Las Vegas in fifth place.

Well, looks like we are officially a great place to be in next Wednesday!
