Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour is one of Seattle’s most unique attractions, and for good reason. This 75-minute guided adventure takes you beneath the bustling streets of modern-day Seattle to discover what remains of the old city that burned to the ground in the Great Fire of 1889.

What to expect

The walking tour begins beneath Doc Maynard’s Public House where you’ll have a 15-minute seated introduction. The restaurant offers a variety of snacks, food, and a full bar, so this is a great time to grab a quick bite before you start the walking part of your tour.

After that, you’ll proceed to Pioneer Square, Seattle’s historic birthplace, before heading underground. The tour takes you through a network of interconnecting tunnels where you’ll get to experience an exclusive, time-capsule view of the buried city.

The tour concludes at Rogues Gallery and the Underground Gift Shop. Browse the gallery for displays of the past and pick up some Northwest memorabilia at the gift shop to remember your trip. Sons of the Profits, the book by Bill Speidel upon which the tour is based, is one of the most popular souvenirs.
