Seattle Seafair is perhaps one of the most classic Seattle celebrations of summer. It brings together people from far and wide to celebrate with events, food, and eye-catching aerial and marine displays. Here’s what to expect from this year’s Seattle Seafair.

Seafair officially kicked off on Saturday, July 29th with the Torchlight parade. This year’s parade had over 100 entries with participants ranging from dragon dancers to precision drill teams, marching bands, prancing horses, and more.

While the parade was fun, the main action takes place this weekend from Friday, August 4th to Sunday, August 6th. You’ll be able to watch both the Boeing Seafair Airshow as well as the Homestreet Bank Cup. The air show showcases impressive sights like the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Golden Knights, and more. The Cup allows spectators to watch unbelievably fast hydroplane races with drivers racing at speeds over 220 MPH on Lake Washington.

Concurrently, Fleet Week is taking place, having started on Tuesday, August 1st and going until Sunday, August 6th. It began with the Parade of Ships through Elliot Bay and will be followed by a week of events. You can meet the sailors and guardsmen, enjoy free music, and take ship tours as well as watch the sailors be sailors downtown.

While Seafair overall is free to attend, events like the Airshow and Hopmestreet Bank Cup do have tickets that you need to purchase. These range in price from $15-$45 or up into the hundreds depending on what kind of seats you would like and whether you are on land or water.

With that, get ready to enjoy Seattle Seafair!
