If you’re looking for a free space to enjoy live music while checking out local food and vendors, look no further than the CID Block Party in Seattle. Taking place on August 17th, this annual festival is a great way to keep the fun going as summer slowly winds down.

This year, according to organizers, you can expect two stages of live music and DJs, food vendors, arts and crafts, shopping, a bar crawl, and more.

The CID Block Party is a grassroots, non-profit festival, run by volunteers. It is described as a “one-day music and art event, which is held every year in August. At the Chinatown-International District Block Party, musicians, artists and locals are invited to help create life under the i-5 freeway.”

Having been taking place since 2016, it “transformed the barren, paved landscape under the i-5 freeway into a cultural hub on the border between 8th Ave S and 10th Ave S on S King St,” adding color to “the gray concrete with music from the underground, quirky activities, art installations and much more to nuance and transform the urban space.”

The free event is open to all ages, with its purpose being to “bring people closer together and give the area under the i-5 a new meaning.”
