Riding the gondola

Of course, this epic experience is topping our list. The ascend to the summit might be a short ride (10 mins) but a thrilling one nonetheless. And it unravels spectacular views of the Howe Sound, the town of Squamish, the snow-capped mountains and Shannon Falls. The thrill and awe together set the mood for what waits ahead.

Winter walking the scenic trails (& taking in the views)

Walking through trails, enjoying the crisp mountain air, taking in the gorg views and snapping a few clicks for the ‘Gram. This is literally our favourite way to spend a winter afternoon. Lucky for us, there are plenty of trails starting at the summit to explore. Just FYI, the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, Summit Lodge Viewing Deck and Spirit Trail will be cleared all winter.

Good ol’ fashioned tubing

This classic winter activity is pure joy. And you can indulge in this joy with the whole family at the tube park near Wonderland Lake Loop. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the Summit Lodge. Meaning, you can easily head up to the lodge for a bite or a bevy right after.

Snowshoeing the deep white snow

The region gets some of the deepest snow in North America which makes it the perfect snowshoeing playground. Snowshoe veteran or newbie, they have a trail for you. They also have tons of tours to pick from for the season— Sunset Snowshoe tour, Daytime Snowshoe tour and even a Baby + Me Snowshoe tour. How cool is that!

Backcountry skiing through magical trails

In addition to the aforementioned deep snow, the region also boasts complex terrains perfect for experienced backcountry skiers. Think steep alpine bowls, first-growth forests, pillow lines and extreme couloirs. The gondola, however, doesn’t upload skis when avalanche conditions in the ‘South Cost’ are rated high or extreme. So, you might want to check that before you plan your trip!

Climbing via ferrata

Crossing suspended bridges and climbing glacier-worn rocks is quite a thrilling endeavour. But the Squamish Via Ferrata is an anyone-can-do activity, skill level no bar. Thanks to the safety cables you are harnessed to and the iron rungs that make it easy to navigate the rocks. Besides, this is, by far, the best way to sneak in awe-inspiring views that you might otherwise miss.
